USA is elected by undergraduates because of their excellent scholarship opportunities and the flexibility to combine their courses whereas the Graduate aspirants fancy to study in USA for quality of Grad degrees and increase in their potential.
Application - A student yearning to get admission in top universities in USA must prepare at least a year in advance as most Universities have stipulated deadlines, thereby making the entire process time bound.

The application process has the critical hurdle university shortlisting based on preference and affordability, followed by the task of arranging the application documents such as transcripts, essays, test scores, CVs, recommendations and financials etc. Generally for undergraduate courses universities require SAT scores, for Post Graduate or Master’s degree in USA they must submit GRE, GMAT scores. For ‘English proficiency’ for both PG and UG admission in USA, TOEFL is recognized by all American institutes but now IELTS is also accepted by many Universities.

Visa - foreign study visa can be both the easiest as well as the toughest task for a student.  The reason is that a student appears for a short interview of duration of 90 seconds to 3 minutes and gets his decision at the same time.

The interviewer asks a range of questions within this short span of time and a student needs to be prepared to deliver smart and cogent answers and convince a visa officer of his genuineness for travelling to USA for studies. Decision on approval or rejection is shared with the student during the interview itself.
