Scholarships Available for Indian Students in Australia

Due to its high standards, research infrastructure, reasonable tuition costs, and excellent employment prospects, Australia is one of the most sought-after study-abroad destinations for Indian students.

Australian scholarships for Indian students are available for those who want to study in Australia but struggle financially. Scholarships reward academic accomplishment, a spur to strive harder, and a pat on the back for the effort. Due to its large immigrant population, Australia offers a wide range of grants, financial help, and scholarships to newcomers.

Some of the Universities are now ranked in top 50 and many in Top 100 in the world, so why not consider Australia as study destination and seek good scholarships

1. Australia Awards

Australia Awards is a long-term, government-funded scholarship programme that provides financial assistance to international students enrolled in full-time undergraduate and graduate programmes for the shortest time possible.

The total tuition charge, round-trip air travel (one way), establishment allowance, living expense contribution, health insurance for international students, pre-course English fees, additional academic support, and other benefits are all included.

All scholarship recipients automatically join Australia Global Alumni. The application can be sent via mail, the Australia Awards Africa website, or the Online Australia Scholarships Information System (OASIS). The application period typically lasts from February through May.

2. Destination Australia

The Australian Department of Education's Destination Australia scholarship programme enables master's students from outside and within Australia to study there remotely, outside the nation's major cities.

The Department of Education maintains a list of the regional Australian universities and institutions that offer these scholarships. The scholarships are worth $15,000 for the course of your education. Depending on the university you want to attend, the application process varies.

Some colleges may automatically consider you for a Destination Australia scholarship. In contrast, others might require you to submit a brief personal statement outlining your reasons for studying abroad in Australia. The deadline is often in the middle of January for a Master's programme that starts in February. The applicants are selected through a series of rounds conducted by the department.

3. Australian Government Research and Training Program (AGRTP)

It is a government-sponsored, centrally administered scholarship that offers financial aid to students for up to three years of tuition and health insurance. Both domestic and international students can access it. It helps a student complete their Research Masters and Research Doctorate degrees. Additionally, it provides an allowance for thesis work and dependent children (for international students only).

There is no application process for this scholarship. For the grant, all qualified applicants are taken into consideration. Choose the appropriate selections on admissions forms to be eligible for any scholarships that may be offered. University deadlines for applications can change.

4. John Allwright Fellowship

The John Allwright Fellowship, offered by the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), is given to researchers from partner institutions who participate in ACIAR research initiatives. The recipients of this scholarship would have the chance to pursue postgraduate study in Australia with typical financial support. In India, ACIAR concentrates on forests, agricultural, and agribusiness-related research.

5. Endeavour Awards

The Australian Government offers chances for citizens of the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Europe, and the Americas to study, conduct research, and advance their careers in Australia through the highly competitive, merit-based Endeavour Awards scholarship programme. Australian citizens can also apply for awards to pursue study, research, or professional development abroad.

6. University Scholarships

Numerous Australian schools are eager to entice talented overseas postgraduates and offer financial aid to their international master's students.

Selecting a master's programme at an Australian university that interests you and then getting in touch with the school to inquire about funding is a wise way to learn more about what's available.

Some of the colleges where you can find scholarships easily are:
  • University of Melbourne- Melbourne International Undergraduate Scholarship
  • Australian National University- Research School of Accounting South Asia Merit Scholarship
  • University of Technology Sydney- International Postgraduate Coursework Full Tuition Scholarship
  • Griffith University- Griffith Remarkable Scholarship
  • University of Queensland
  • University of Sydney- Dr. Abdul Kalam International Postgraduate Scholarship
  • Monash University – Merit Based scholarships every year
  • University of Adelaide
  • University of Western Australia
  • University of New South Wales

The scholarships range widely in terms of their nature. While some will consistently pay your tuition and provide a stipend during your master's degree, others will only waive a portion.

International students can receive financial aid and scholarships from almost all Australian educational institutions. The majority of them are merit-based, therefore in order to qualify for them, you must have a strong academic record. A student can select the ideal scholarship for their needs with the aid of a strong academic record and professional conduct during interviews.

Receiving a grant is beneficial since it not only makes your time abroad simpler and more pleasant, but it also gives you a boost of confidence and admirability. Maintaining a consistently high GPA while studying abroad is also encouraging.

P.S- Note that the eligibility criteria for each scholarship mentioned above differ. Therefore, we advise you to check the university website while applying for scholarships and the individual websites as well.

Ensure that all the requirements are met and that you qualify for the scholarship. For any further assistance regarding studying abroad, you may contact our experts at MapMyStudy.com. We are here to help!
